In an extraordinary display of power-hitting, Yusuf Pathan reminded everyone of his prowess by smashing a half-century in just 20 balls, peppered with blistering fours and sixes. He proved that he still possesses the firepower in his arsenal. The senior Pathan, in one over of Mohammad Amir, sent the ball across the boundary three times for sixes and once for a four.

Yusuf Pathan set the stage ablaze with his explosive batting in the Afro T-20 league in Zimbabwe. His destructive half-century was a clear testament to his undiminished firepower. Pathan single-handedly guided Johannesburg Buffaloes to victory in the first qualifier of the tournament against Durban Calandars, ensuring the Mohammad Hafeez-led team a place in the finals.

Playing at the Harare Sports Club, Durban, after losing the toss, set a formidable total of 140 runs in the designated 10 overs, losing just four wickets. This meant they amassed an impressive average of 14 runs per over. Team contributors included Sefert with 11 off 8 balls, Andre Fletcher with 39 off 14 balls, Asif Ali with 32 off 12 balls, and Nick Welsh with 24 off 8 balls. In response, Noor Ahmad of Johannesburg claimed two wickets for just nine runs.

The Johannesburg team then responded with a winning total of 142 runs in 9.5 overs, losing only four wickets, ensuring their spot in the final with one ball to spare. Pathan starred with a rapid-fire half-century from just 20 balls, including two fours and five sixes. He remained unbeaten at the end, having played a devastating knock of 80 runs from 26 balls, which included five fours and eight sixes. In the second innings’ eighth over, Pathan hit Mohammad Amir for three sixes and one four, bringing the total score to 25 runs in that over, including a double run and one wide ball.

Johannesburg required 20 runs in the last over to win, and Mushfiqur Rahim ran a double on the first ball from Chatarara. Pathan then hit a six on the second ball, a four on the third, another six on the fourth, and sealed the victory with a four on the fifth ball.

In the tournament, Yusuf has scored a total of 187 runs in six innings from eight matches with an impressive strike rate of 207.77, hitting 16 fours and 14 sixes.

Apart from Yusuf’s blistering half-century, Mohammad Hafeez scored 17 runs from 8 balls in the qualifier, and Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 14 runs from 10 balls. Mohammad Amir was expensive, conceding 42 runs in two overs without claiming a wicket. Consequently, Yusuf Pathan was named the man of the match for his match-winning performance.
